Greetings My Fellow Sons of the Desert,

Due to the fact that this year’s Oriental Band competition was held earlier and in conjunction with the Western Shrine Association, I’d like to ask you to mark Sept 23-26, 2010 on your calendar when W.A.S.O.B. will return to Portland, OR for the best, largest, most diverse Oriental Band Jamboree ~ rival NONE! Though it may be a year away, it is never too early to save the date and begin making plans. An entire hotel has been reserved and other details and events are already in the works ~ having YOUR Oriental Band attend and contribute to the FUN, Fraternalism and Friendly competition, that IS Shrinedom!, is anticipated and will be greatly appreciated; I personally guarantee that you will not be disappointed.

The 2010 Jamboree will also have Nobles from the North – also known as OBers from the Pacific Northwest Shrine Oriental Bands Association (P.N.S.O.B.A.) joining in the frivolity, as they have heard of the many great times we in W.A.S.O.B. have enjoyed for many years.

Because of changing times and interests, there has been much interest in and discussion about this joint-Jamboree as well as merging our two diverse regions. Webster’s Dictionary describes a “merger” as combining two or more interests to form a greater one. I sincerely believe this “fits to a “T””, the intent of a merger between P.N.S.O.B.A. with W.A.S.O.B. as the resultant would certainly be a greater organization in more ways than one; double the number of Temples and Oriental Bands (Safety in Numbers), double the many beautiful destinations in which to hold the Jamboree and most importantly – double the FUN!!!

In order to thoroughly study this prospect, I’m asking for a representative from your Oriental Band to be the voice of YOUR Unit; to bring questions and concerns as well as take back topics of discussions and updates regarding the potential merger of these two well-respected and fun regions.

If you would please share, make copies or forward this letter as soon as possible to the “movers and shakers” within your Oriental Band and have your representative contact me, either through email or telephone, we’ll get this show on the road. Representation from every OB will insure a diverse voice! Keep in mind the 2010 Jamboree will be help Sept 23-26 in Portland and I really do hope YOUR O.B. attends and shares in the festivities of fellowship and camaraderie at the many social opportunities with entertainment being planned, great competition and – Oh, did I mention, FUN ?!?!

 Es Salamu Aleikum!

Scot Duncil,

President
